Commercial Project 2.37. Entrepreneurship Promotion Plan for Innovation in the Port Sector “Ports 4.0” (2021)
PATH2REALITY eis the commercial name of the platform resulting from the VRT4PORTS Project.
A cloud-based platform designed to effectively and safely train workers in 3D virtual environments.
Immersive training in 3D virtual environments for the Maritime and Port Sector
Ship embarkation and disembarkation operations can pose serious physical risks to individuals, such as falls into the water, severe injuries from slips, trips, or impacts due to ship movements.
Thanks to the immersive training platform, the Jovellanos Center can offer training that allows all groups who may need to access a moored ship, such as inspectors, members of Port Authority bodies, pilots, and crew members, to face and identify real risk situations in a safe context.
“We are convinced that the possibility of representing and allowing users to face common danger situations in an immersive context will significantly improve learning retention and awareness of these risks”
— Training Manager at SASEMAR

The Jovellanos Center has been collaborating for two years with the Asturian companies Simbiosys, Signal Software, and Ubiqware Studio in the consortium that has led this Commercial Project 2.37 VRT4Ports Virtual Reality Training Environments for the Logistics-Port Sector.
The Ports 4.0 initiative is part of an open corporate innovation model adopted by Puertos del Estado and the Spanish Port Authorities, whose purpose is to attract, support, and facilitate the application of talent and entrepreneurship to the Spanish logistics-port sector, both public and private, in the context of the 4th industrial revolution.
The goal is clear: to develop and provide the logistics-port community with innovative products, services, and processes, market-oriented and designed to generate tangible value at any stage of the supply chain.
